The voter turnout numbers, without counting those who registered on election day are:

  • Essex: 66 per cent or about 60,524 of 91,816 registered electors.

  • Windsor West: 55 per cent or about 46,930 of 84,699 registered electors.

All three ridings posted increases in voter turnout over the 2011 election. Those numbers were:

  • Essex:58.5 percent or about 52,930 of 90,421 registered electors
  • Windsor-Tecumseh: 53 per cent or about 44,772 of 84,458 registered electors
  • Windsor West: 48.8 per cent or about 40,002 of 81,984 registered electors.

Monday'snumbers compare well with the national turnout of more than 68 per cent, or about 17,546,697registered electors casting their ballots. The 2015election had the highest voter turnout since the 1993 federal election.

That's a big jump from the last federal election in 2011, when just more than 61 per cent of Canadians voted.

High turnout numbers are consistent with the increase in advanced polls reported by Elections Canada.
