Adventure Bay celebrated a milestone Thursday morning.

The 100,000th visitor passed through the turnstiles at the City of Windsor's water park.

The honour went to Sydney Meloche, a six-year-old girl from Cottam.

She was spending the day at Adventure Bay with her brother, sister, cousins and parents.

Mom Jennine Meloche admits the family rarely ventures into Windsor, but that has changed because of the water park.

"I hadn't really heard about it until my parents took [my kids] a month ago. They said it was great, and they're 60 years old and they could do all the rides. They had a lot of fun, so then we did it," Meloche said. "This is our third time here, so I'm not surprised it's successful.

"There's so many things to do, so many fun places to play here for all ages. It was awesome."

Jan Wilson, the executive director of recreation, expects the attraction will remain popular.

"I think that people will want to keep coming back, because people are always looking for things to do," she said. "It's like going to theme parks and water parks elsewhere. People will go back again and again if they have a great experience, and that's what we're offering here.

"We want people to have a great experience in your own hometown."

Wilson says work is almost complete on additional seating for people who want to observe the water park without paying to get in.

She also says a mechanical lift should be installed by the end of the month, so people will not have to carry cumbersome rafts upstairs to the top of the water slides.
