B.C. man charged in Blenheim, Ont., drug bust netting $500K in fentanyl

A Burnaby, B.C., man has been charged in connection to a large drug bust in Chatham-Kent.

Police say an investigation led to search warrants of a vehicle and a short-term rental property on Erie Shore Drive in Blenheim on Sept. 5 around 7 p.m. The residence was being rented by the vehicle's driver, they said in a statement.

According to authorities, officersrecovered $500,000 in fentanyl, $42,000 in cocaine, some cash, cellphones and drug paraphernalia.

Following a bail hearing, police say a 27-year-old accused is currently awaiting his next court date Sep. 11 and is being held at the Southwest Regional Detention Centre.

He's charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of an unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
