Border officials seize 30 kg of cocaine at Ambassador Bridge

A driver and his co-driver from Ontario were charged with importation of cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking after officials seized 25 bricks of the drug at the Ambassador Bridge in 2017. (CBSA)

Two men from Ontario are facing drug trafficking charges after border officials found 25 bricks of cocaine hidden in their vehicle while they were trying to cross the Ambassador Bridge.

The men were sent for secondary inspection, where a search revealed 30.6 kg of cocaine, according to a media release from the Canada Border Services Agency.

The driver and his co-driver are charged with importation of cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

"Border services officers are committed to keeping our communities safe," wrote CBSA directorfor Ambassador Bridge Operations Tamara Allard."This seizure demonstrates the hard work and perseverance of our law enforcement officers working together to protect our border."
