Canada Day 2017 in Windsor: What's open? What's not?

Canada Day may mark an important milestone for the country this year, but life doesn't always take a breakeven for a 150th birthdayso here's what is and isn't business as usual.

City Services

City of Windsor offices will be closed on July 3 in observance of Canada Day, which takes place on July 1. City Council will next meet on Monday, July 17 at 6 p.m.

The 311 Call Centre will be closed Monday as well.Regular hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. resume Tuesday July 4.

211 Windsor-Essex will be open 24 hours on Monday.

There will be no residential collection services on July 3.Residential garbage, yard waste and recycling collection will be delayed by one day. Night commercial services are not delayed.

The public drop-off and household chemical waste depots located at the northeast corner of Central Avenue and E.C. Row will be closed on Saturday, but closed Monday.

Parks and Recreation

All community and customer care centres will be closed, except for scheduled rentals, on July 3.

All indoor pools will beclosedon Saturday, July 1,with the exception of the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre, which will be open10 a.m. to 4 p.m.in the natatorium forOpenAdult and Fit Lanes, and7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.in the fitness centre.

Sandpoint Beachwill beopen from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.weather permitting. Regular hours apply to all aquatic facilities onMonday, July 3, 2017.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park begins itssummer hours on Canada Day and will be open from10 a.m. to 8p.m. from July 1 to September 3.

All locations of the Windsor Public Library will be closed for Canada Day, but open on Monday.

TheChimczukMuseum andFranoisBaby House locations will both beopenon Canada Day, but both will beclosedonMonday as usual.

Transit

City buses will run on the Sunday/Holiday schedule on CanadaDay.
The Tunnel Bus will operate on a regular Saturday schedule.

Transit Windsor's customer service office on Chatham St. W will be open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.

Beer and Liquor

All Beer Stores will be closed Canada Day,

All LCBO stores will also be closed for Canada Day, but stores across the country are extending their hours on Monday to mark Canada's 150th anniversary. Some stores will remain open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Groceries & Shopping

Devonshire Mall is set to open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Canada Day.

Check with your local grocery retailer for their holiday hours.

Banking & Financial Markets

Most major Canadian financial institutions are closed for Canada Day, including TD Canada Trust, Royal Bank of Canada, Scotiabank, CIBC, BMO andWFCU. Canadian markets, including the Toronto Stock Exchange, are closed Monday.

It is not a holiday in the United States, so American markets such as the NYSE or NASDAQ will be trading Monday, but closed on July 4.

Canada Post

There will be no regular collection or delivery of mail on Canada Day. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
