Flood-damaged material collection tops 4,000 tonnes

Crews have gathered more than 4,000 tonnes of flood material from Windsor streets, more than double the amount collected after flooding last September.

"Visible progress" has been made in Wards 1, 6 and 10, according to an update from the city and the Public Drop-Off Depot at Central Avenue will be returning to regular operations, including fees, on the morning of Sept. 18.

The 311 Call Centre has fielded 6,201 basement flooding reports so far.

A decision on whether or not regular recycling pick-up will be made Monday, but staff said they're hopeful "If all goes well this weekend, recycling could returnon Tuesday."
