Man accused of firing shots at South Windsor home charged with attempted murder

Windsor police say a man accused of purposely rammingseveral vehicles and firingshots at a home has been charged with attempted murder, among other charges.

Windsor police say a man accused of purposely rammingseveral vehicles and firingshots at a home has been charged with attempted murder, among other charges.

It happened on Monday in the area of Marlin Avenue in South Windsor.Police responded just after 4:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a man with a gun.

Officers saw "extensive damage" to a home and several vehicles.

"Through investigation, officers learned that a man had driven a van to the property and intentionally rammed into multiple vehicles. He then allegedly fired several shots at the residence before fleeing the scene," police said in a media release Wednesday.

A woman who was in the house wasn't hurt.

Police say they found the suspect's vehicle in flamesin the 6000 block of Baseline Road.The man ran away but was quickly caught, police say.

A 50-year-old man faces 16charges, including attempted murder, assault and discharging a firearm with the intent to cause harm.
