Roxy the dog's euthanasia bill paid by 2 strangers

When Jay Rhadigan went to pay his vet bill after making the difficult decision of putting down his 15 year-old dog Roxy, he and his wife were having trouble with their credit card.

That's when two women stepped in and paid the $360 bill.

"These ladies done such a great thing. They paid for my dog to be taken care of with dignity and they said nothing," Rhadigan said. "I ran out the door and chased them down and I said 'you know, you didn't have to go and do what you did.'"

"We stood in the middle of that street, all snow-covered, snowing down on us, me, my wife and two complete strange ladies who we never seen or met a day in our lives before, hugging and crying on the street. I had no other idea of what to say or do," he said.

"She was an aspect of my life I'll never forget and she's very close to me, always will be. But what those ladies did was remarkable."

Rhadigan says the kind gesture has given him faith that there are good people out there.

"This is only stuff I've ever heard about, and even maybe the odd time dreamed about, but now that it's happened to me and my wife, there's humanity in the world. It isn't all evil and bad."

Rhadigan plans to get an image of Roxy's paw tattooed on his shoulder.
