Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley seeks re-election while sitting councillor looks to oust him

It promises to be a real battle for the mayor's office in Sarnia.

Incumbent of 30 years, Mike Bradley, announced Wednesdaythat he intends to keep the job. He will make an event out of signing the nomination papers.

Bradley is inviting the whole community to come out to a Legion hall Saturday morning to take part, saying that location represents people who have fought for our freedom of speech over the years.

"This is something different that we're doing this time, having citizens come in to sign nomination papers, and it's symbolic of the changes I think that need to happen at Sarnia city hall," Bradley said.

"It needs to go back to being an accessible, open place where citizens are truly engaged."

Bradley has been embroiled in deep conflict during his most recent term, as senior city staff and other council members accused him of bullyingand harassment.

One of his chief rivals Coun.Anne-Marie Gillis has already joined the race, in hopes of ousting him from office.

Gillis had been appointed as a go-between to convey messages between Bradley and city employees.

Fred Inghamis also seeking the spot.
