A Windsor-made whisky has won the Canadian Whisky Awards' top honour for the second time.

The top whisky in Canada is made in Windsor.

At least, that's the conclusion of the judges at the Canadian Whisky Awards, who named the Lot No. 40 whisky as the best Canadian whisky of 2015.

Davin de Kergommeaux, the chairman of the judges, said that Lot No. 40 is a "rye monster" that stands out.

"Despite a very tight competition and some truly excellent whiskies entered, Lot 40 has reigned supreme," he told CBC News in a telephone interviewFriday.

De Kergommeaux said 10 independent judges take blind taste tests of the dozens of whiskies put forth for consideration.

This year, there were more than 60 whiskies under consideration.

De Kergommeux said Lot No. 40 had previously won the same award in 2013, when a different panel of judges was deciding.
