Windsor police have arrested one person, and are looking for a second, following a shooting last week near a troubled downtown neighbourhood where Windsor police currently have an increased presence.

According to authorities, officers responded on Thursday to a report of a shooting that took place Wednesday nightwhen they say "two armed suspects engaged in a verbal altercation with another person in the area of Glengarry Avenue and Assumption Street."

"The interaction escalated when one of the suspects discharged a firearm directly at the victim's vehicle, striking it in the door."

Police say no one was injured, and on Sunday officersarrested a 33-year-old man at a residence on Assumption Street.

The man is facing four firearm charges but police say they are still looking for another suspect, described as a Black man, approximately 30 years old, about 5'11" with a slender build and full beard.

Windsor police say the Glengarry community is the city's top location for violent crime, and have dedicated more enforcement efforts to the neighbourhood.

Anyone who lives in the area is asked to check their dash and surveillance cameras and contact police with any information.
