Mayor Dilkens drops hints about Windsor's new sports tourism co-ordinator

The city filled its newly created sports tourism co-ordinator position, but few details will be released until a contract is signed, said Mayor Drew Dilkens.

Windsor has found the right person to fill the newly created sports tourism co-ordinator position at city hall, according to Mayor Drew Dilkens, but he'snot ready to release her name.

The mayor would only say the chosen candidate is well known in the sporting world and has ties to Windsor.

"She has experience in almost 23 different sports acrossOntarioand actually across Canada," Dilkens said after Monday night's council meeting. "We feel real comfortable that this is the right candidate and we're very, very excited to get her on board and have her hit the ground running."

He further hinted at the identify of the successful candidate by saying she has a wealth of knowledge ofthe city already.

"She has a lot of connections in the City of Windsor [and] has been here a lot of times in the course of her work," Dilkens said. She issomeone who "knows what's going on here in the community and certainly knows what's going on in the sporting world in Ontario and across Canada."
