Youth arrested, charged with attempted murder in alleged child stabbing

Windsor police have arrested one suspect and charged them with attempted murder in a stabbing incident.

According to police, the assault took place Sunday afternoon in Windsor's east end.

Officers arrived to find a child victim with "apparent" stab wounds. Information police were given led them to believe the child had been stabbed inside the home by a relative who had since left the scene.

Police said they quickly located the suspect a young offender and arrested them without incident.

The accused cannot be named due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Police did not say the nature of the injuries or if the child was sent to hospital.

The Major Crimes Branch is continuing the investigation.
