22 Minutes marks 22nd season with hour-long special

This Hour Has 22 Minuteshas been tickling Canadian's funny bones fortwo side-splitting decadespestering politicians, lambasting the newsmakers and parodying commercials since1993.

The CBC'scomedy institution is celebrating its 22 birthday tonight with an hour-long special titled This Hour Has 22 Years.

The retrospective will feature somethe funniest moments from the show's vaults, including some classic contributions fromoriginal cast members such as Rick Mercer,Mary Walsh and Cathy Jones.

Jones is still bringing her snappy brand of satire with current cast members,Mark Critch, Shaun Majumder andSusan Kent, who are carrying on the tradition of holding Canadian politicians' feet to their farcical fire.

Toronto's former mayorRob Ford and former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrtienare just two of the cast's favourite targets, and the ever-changing news cycle helpskeep22 Minutes material fresh.

"There's always something happening," Critch told CBC. "It gets to the point where you can't even catch up, so you've just got to be loose and go with it and it'll just take care of itself."
