Adele has opened up about parenting, her struggle with postpartum depression and alcohol use in a cover story for the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair.

The 28-year-old singer told the American magazine she felt like she had made "the worst decision" of her life after having her son, Angelo, who's now 4.

"My knowledge of postpartumor post-natal, as we call it in Englandis that you don't want to be with your child; you're worried you might hurt your child; you're worried you weren't doing a good job. But I was obsessed with my child," the chart-topping performer told Vanity Fair.

"I felt very inadequate; I felt like I'd made the worst decision of my life."

She said she eventually had to spend some time alone in order to overcome her postpartum depression.

Adele also touched on cutting back on her drinking and quitting smoking:"Having a hangover with a child is torture."

She said she used to be a "massive drinker," but since having had vocal surgery and her son, she now only indulges in maybe two glasses of wine a week.

The interview, which also explores topics like fame, her relationship with boyfriend Simon Koneckiand her music, appears in the December issue of Vanity Fair, which hits newsstands Thursday.

Adele wraps up a nearly yearlong tour of Europe and North America on Nov. 21.
