Buffer Festival unites YouTube stars in Toronto

Some of YouTube's most popular faces are in Toronto this weekend for Buffer Festival, anannual showcase of the video site's stars.

Taking a cue from the Toronto International Film Festival, Buffer Fest's red carpet rolls out at Roy Thomson Hall Friday evening for a gala screening event premiering brand new content from top Canadian and international web video stars.

Familiar faces such as musician Andrew Huang, baker Yoland Gampp, crafty maven LaurDIY, comedian Jus Reign and science and education buff Matthew Santoro are among those expected on the red carpet.

Created by Canadian YouTube entrepreneur and producer Corey Vidal and now in its third year, Buffer Festival unites prominent and emerging content creators, devoted audience members and online media figures for a celebration of the best online videos in a range of topic areas, from lifestyle and beauty to gaming, science and LGBTQ issues.

The festival continues Saturday and Sunday with 90-minute theatrical screenings, meet-and-greet sessions with popular channel hosts and other fan events at the city's John Bassett Theatre and Bluma Appel Theatre.
