Red Hot Chili Peppers cancel concert after Anthony Kiedis hospitalized

Red Hot Chili Peppers was forced to cancel a performance Saturday after the rock band's lead singer, Anthony Kiedis, was taken to hospital.

Red Hot Chili Peppers was forced to cancel a performance Saturday after the rock band's lead singer, Anthony Kiedis,was taken to hospital.

"There's a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it," Chili Peppersbassist Flea, who's real name is Michael Balzary, told the crowd in Irvine, Calif., just outside Los Angeles.

The group was supposed to headline an annual event that drew thousands of fanscalled Weenie Roast at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, hosted by KROQ.

The L.A. radio station posted a message on Twitter Saturday night, citing "illness" as the reason for the cancellation.

The band on Sunday posted a message on their website, indicating that Kiedis, 53, was suffering from intestinal flu.

"Anthony is expected to make a full recovery soon," the notice posted on redhotchilipeppers.com said.
