Duchess of York had message for Fergie

The Duchess of York says she demanded a charity concert from the American pop singer Fergie after her first solo album sported the title The Dutchess.

The Duchess of York says she demanded a charity concert from the American pop singer Fergie after her first solo album sported the title The Dutchess.

Speaking in Toronto Wednesday while at an event to support children's charities, Sarah Ferguson said it was "naughty"of Fergie to appropriate her nickname.

The British Fergie said she called the Black Eyed Peas singer after the release of her album to complain about the name and demand a charity concert.

The duchess was known as "Fergie," a derivative of her surname, after she married Prince Andrew in 1986 and became the Duchess of York.

Pop singer Fergie's real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson. The title of her 2006 release, The Dutchess, is a deliberate misspelling of Sarah Ferguson's title.

The British Fergie said during her appearance that she enjoys the company of children because she doesn't trust grown-ups anymore.
