Jackson glove gets $190K at auction

An auction of about 200 Michael Jackson memorabilia items has garnered $1 million US, including $190,000 for his iconic glitter glove.

Sale of pop icon's memorabilia nets about $1M

A glove Michael Jackson wore on his 1984 Victory tour has garnered $190,000 US, more thansix times its estimatedvalue, at an auction of his memorabilia.

The Swarvoski-crystal-studded glove was just one of more than 200 items puton the blockon Friday by Julien's Auctions in Las Vegas. The auction netted nearly $1 million.

The auction came on the first-year anniversary of the King of Pop's death. The 50-year-old entertainer died on June 25, 2009. Dr. Conrad Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death for administering the anesthetic propofol to Jackson to help the pop star sleep.

The iconic glove had been tagged with a price of about $30,000.It was snagged by Wanda Kelley of Los Angeles, who also bought a number of Jackson's albums at the auction.Kelley says she was determined to have the glove.

"Let's just say I wasn't walking out of here without that glove," she said.

Many Jackson items were sold for beyond their estimated value.

A jacketthe pop singer was wearing during his interview with Barbara Walters, listed at $6,000 to $8,000, fetched $120,000 andJackson's stage-worn loafers, listed as being worth up to $3,000, went for $90,000.

"It just shows you Michael Jackson is the most sought-after and most collectible celebrity of all time. It was just phenomenal," Darren Julien, who runs the auction house, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

"People flew in from Asia, Russia, all over. Now that he's gone, we now realize the true legend we lost."
