Kevin Smith's set-in-Canada horror comedy Tusk has been selected topremiere at the Toronto International Film Festival just one of about 40 new titles announced Tuesday by TIFF programmers.

Tusk which will screen as part of TIFF's popular horror-driven Midnight Madness programstars Justin Long asapodcasterwho travels to rural Canada whilechasing a story, but instead, finds himself facing a terrifying transformation.

Other Midnight Madnessnotables includeTokyo Tribe byJapanese director and 2013People's Choice Award-winnerSion Sono andWhat We Do in the Shadows, a vampire flick from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Taika Waititi andFlight of theConchordscomedianJemaine Clement.

Winterbottom film makes TIFF's Masters program

Michael Winterbottom's The Face of an Angel was inspired by the killing of Meredith Kercher in Italy. It stars Cara Delevingne, Daniel Brhl and Kate Beckinsale. (TIFF)

Festival organizers announced a slate of other films to premiere in their Mastersprogram, including Michael Winterbottom's The Face of an Angel. The crime story, starringDaniel Brhl andKateBeckinsale, is inspired by the Amanda Knox murder trial in Italy.

Jean-Luc Goddard's first 3D featureGoodbye to Language will also screen as part of the Masters program. The experimental drama shared the jury prize with Montral filmmaker Xavier Dolans Mommy at Cannes.

More titles will be announced throughout the summer, with the Canadian lineup due to be released at a news conferenceon Aug. 6.
