Miley Cyrus, Drake Bell double winners at Kids' Choice Awards

It was Miley Cyrus all the way at the Kids' Choice Awards, where the 15-year-old performer took home favourite female singer and TV actress and belted out her hit single GNO - Girls Night Out to a screaming crowd of 10,000.

Cyrus, in a black dress with silver spangles, thanked her mother, father (country singer Billy Ray Cyrus), agent, manager "and my lord and saviour Jesus Christ" as she accepted the best actress prize for a second year in a row at the 21st annual show held in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

Adult stars were also on hand and so was the traditional green slime at the gala, sponsored by children's channel Nickelodeon.

Singer Usher blasted a sumo wrestler several yards with slime fired from a cannon while model Heidi Klum, attached to a bungee cord, flung herself at a wall covered with slime-filled balloons.

Other major winners included Drake Bell who collected his third consecutive orange trophy for favourite TV actor and another for favourite TV show for Drake and Josh considered an upset of sorts as it trumped Cyrus's Hannah Montana.

Eddie Murphy was handed the award for favourite voice from an animated movie forShrek the Third while American Idol triumphed astop reality show. Jessica Alba and Johnny Depp captured the favourite movie star categories.

The Jonas Brothers were a big hit, garnering favourite music group and Chris Brown won for favourite male singer.

Cameron Diaz accepted a silver blimp-shaped trophyas this year's Wannabe Award winner, for the person kids most want to emulate.

In her speech, she encouraged the crowd to do their part to protect the planet.

"You're going to change the world. Every one of you kids is the future," she told the audience.

Winners are selected through a website voting system. The show's host, comedianJack Black, announced that 88 million votes were cast this year, outstripping last year's record number of 40 million.
