The CBC Music host previews new releases by HAIM, Catherine MacLellan and half-sisters Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar

Family ties bind together the three acts CBC host Tom Power offers up in his weekly pick of new releases.

After having performed as part of a family band and in an all-girl troupe called the Valli Girls, sisters Danielle, Este and Alana Haim are now back as HAIM. The sibling performers have released Days Are Gone, an album that incorporates a host of musical influences, from pop and contemporary R&B to indie rock. "It's the kind of music you want to turn up on your stereo," says Power.

Meanwhile, Canadian folk singer-songwriter Catherine MacLellan pays tribute to her famed father in Songbird: The Songs of Gene MacLellan. She gathered some of her dad's friends to tell stories and sing some of his best-known songs, which include Snowbird, Put Your Hand in the Hand and The Call.

Finally, Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar unite after the death of their father, Ravi Shankar, for the much anticipated Traces of You. The folk and blues-inspired singer-songwriter and pianist joins forces with her virtuoso sitar player half-sister on the new album.
