Oscars 2014: highlights from the awards show

From a record-breaking selfie to a musical performance by U2, the 2014 Academy Awards seemed to be a successful night.

Host and TV personality EllenDeGenereskicked off the night by telling a few jokes. Between all the actors nominated in 2014, they have made 1400 films, she noted, "and gone to a total of six years of college."
