Rain can't dampen spirits at Toronto's Virgin Fest

About 40,000 music fans rocked to more than 54 artists over the weekend at Toronto's annual Virgin Music Festival.

The festival, now in its third year, was marred by a touch of bad weather, with rain and cloudson both days. Thatdidn't dampen the enthusiasm of the festival's founder, Richard Branson, 58.

"There's some great music," the billionaire and president of Virgin Mobile said at the launch.

Saturday's lineup featured the Foo Fighters, Bloc Party and MGMT on the mainstage, while the Fratellis, Canada's Wintersleep, the Waking Eyes and Bad Flirt rocked the other stages.

Other Canuck bands included the Weakerthans, Danko Jones and the Constantines.

Headlining Sunday were Brit rockers Oasis, who closed the festival along with Paul Weller, the Stereophonics and Silversun Pickups from Los Angeles.

Smaller bands, including Rock Plaza Central, the Pigeon Detectives, Sons and Daughters and Yoav also performed Sunday.

New York City's Moby was the big name brought in to DJ on Sunday along with other electronic artists such as Juno winner Deadmau5.

Music lovers were also able to watch buskers, get a massage or tattoo, and even a head shave ($10).
