Sinead O'Connor pleads for help, says she's living in motel

Sinead O'Connor pleaded for help from her family and opened up about her mental illness in a rambling Facebook video posted from a New Jersey motel she'd been living in.

Follow-up Facebook post, written on her behalf, said singer is safe and not suicidal

Sinead O'Connor emotionally pleaded for help from her family andopened up about her mental illness in a rambling Facebook videoposted from a New Jersey motel she had been living in.

The video is the latest public glimpse of the singer's ongoingstruggle with mental health problems.

The 50-year-old Irish singer says in the video posted Thursdaythat she was staying alive for the sake of others, like her
psychiatrist, and if it were up to her, she'd "be gone."

"I'm fighting, fighting, fighting, fighting like all themillions and millions that I know I'm one of to stay alive every day," she said in the video.

O'Connor lamented what she described is a lack of support fromloved ones, saying that "strangers onFacebook" are kinder to herthan her own family. She asked her adult children and their fathersto make an effort to bring her home to Ireland.

"It should not be acceptable to any man who knows me and claimsto love and care about me that I'm still sitting here after twoyears and I'm begging ... to be brought home," she said throughtears.

O'Connor said she was living in a New Jersey Travelodge and laterposted the address of a Travelodge in South Hackensack.

South Hackensack Police Capt. Robert Kaiser said Tuesday thatofficers conducted a welfare check, but O'Connor wasn't in her roomat the time. He said she is no longer staying there and police don'tknow where she is currently living.

Arequest for comment fromher agentwasn't immediately returned.

A follow-up Facebook post on O'Connor's page late Monday, said tobe made on the singer's behalf, said the singer is safe and notsuicidal.

"She is surrounded by love and receiving the best of care," thepost read.

O'Connor has been open about her mental health problems over theyears and previously said she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The singer was found in a Chicago-area hotel room last year after acall from a concerned doctor prompted a search by authorities.

The singer topped charts across the globe in 1990 with her coverof Prince's ballad Nothing Compares 2 U.She was sharplycriticized two years later after ripping up a picture of Pope JohnPaul II during a performance on Saturday Night Live.
