Singer-songwriter Elton John considers biopic

Elton John is in talks to make a biopic of his life, with hopes to reteam with his Billy Elliot collaborator Lee Hall.

Elton John is in talks to make a biopic of his life, with hopes to reteam with his Billy Elliot collaborator Lee Hall.

News of the projecttentatively titled Rocketman after John's hit songemerged earlier in 2011 and the performer's spokesman confirmed on Friday that discussions were ongoing.

John and playwright Hall teamed up forthe hit musicalBilly Elliot (based on the film), for whichthe singer, songwriter and pianist provided the score.

Steve Hamilton Shaw, who produced the3D animation film Gnomeo & Julietwith John andhis partner David Furnish, is also tied to the film project.

"Rocketman will be a radically different kind of biopic," Shaw told Hollywood entertainment site Deadline. He said the film is being envisioned as "non-linear and hyper-visual."

The award-winning John, 64, has sold more than 200 million records worldwide and is known for his lengthy catalog of hits, including Candle in the Wind, Bennie and the Jets, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, I'm Still Standing, Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me, Crocodile Rock and Rocket Man.

The Alberta Ballet's artistic director Jean Grand-Matre created asurreal, fantastical take on John's life and music in his 2010 production Love Lies Bleeding.
