A message on the Detroit rock duo's website Tuesday announced the cancellation and thanked fans "for your understanding and well wishes."

The site also directed ticket holders to obtain refunds from where they originally purchased their tickets, with the exception of the Austin City Limits Festival, for which the tickets were non-refundable.

The cancellations include dates across the U.S. and the U.K.

Earlier this month, the band announced the cancellation ofthe U.S. dates, citing health issues for Meg White and her inability to travel.

Singer-guitarist Jack Whiteand drummer Meg Whitehave been on tour promoting their latest album, Icky Thump.

In June and July, the Grammy Award-winning duo travelled across Canada, playing to delighted concertgoers and packed venuesin each province and territory.

The duo also won over Canadian fans by regularly popping up for a host of impromptu gigs, including jamming with Inuit elders in Iqaluit, performing on a Winnipeg city bus and playing before dozens of children at a Toronto summer day camp.

The band's Halifax concert was an especially anticipated date, after it emerged that Jack White is a distant cousin of famed Cape Breton fiddlers Ashley MacIsaac, Natalie MacMaster and Buddy MacMaster.
