Winehouse pulls out of U.K. concert

British soul siren Amy Winehouse has racked up another no-show, cancelling her appearance at a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Island Records.

"Amy would like to apologize to her fans who bought tickets for the shows," said a statement from her management team on Friday. Refunds are available to concertgoers.

The embattled singer, who has publicly battled drug and alcohol abuse, was due to participate in the concert on May 31 at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire.

The concert set to mark the end of a week-long set of festivities has also been scuttled. The music label is credited with bringing the likes of Bob Marley and U2 to the world.

The concert would have marked Winehouse's first U.K. performance of 2009.

No reasons were given for Winehouse's pullout. However, the Press Association reports that the singer has been experiencing chest pains.

Winehouse is currently living on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, where she is reportedly working on her third album.

Her performance the first in several months at the island's jazz festival on May 8 was as tempestuous as the singer's life.

She abandoned the show prematurely, stating bad weather as the cause. But BBC News reported that fans booed her performance and, at one point, Winehouse appeared to forget the words to a song and told the crowd, "Sorry, I'm bored."

She was also recently taken to hospital in St. Lucia after fainting and kept overnight for observation. She was found to be dehydrated.

Winehouse, who garnered several Grammy Awards for her 2006 album, Back to Black, behaved erratically throughout 2008 and cancelled many performances.
