TheCanadian Human Rights Tribunal hasruled the federal government discriminates against First Nation children who live on reserves.

The tribunal saidTuesday the federal government must "cease the discriminatory practice" of failingto provide the same level of child welfare services to thoseon reservesthat exist elsewhere.

The ruling comes after a nearly nine-year fight between the government and the First Nations and Family Caring Society, alongside the Assembly of First Nations, whichfiled the complaint in February2007.
