Floor-crossing MP Eve Adams joined the Liberal caucus in the House of Commons Monday, as MPs return to Parliament after a week in their ridings.

Adams was not in the House earlier in the day, and did not attend question period, but did attend votes in the evening.

Liberal MPs on their way into the House earlier Monday predicted a warm welcome for their new colleague.

"We're only 35 [MPs in caucus]. We're glad to have another person," Montreal MP Marc Garneautold CBC News.

Liberal MP Joyce Murray said she'll make sure Adams is as comfortable as possible.

"This is a gutsy move. It takes courage to enter a new team where you're not familiar with the people and the processes, and the human thing to do is to make it as easy and as welcoming as possible, and that's what Iintend to do," she said.

The former Conservative MP Adams, who was parliamentary secretary to Health Minister Rona Ambrose, announced a week ago that she was joining the Liberal Party.

Adams had been denied the chance to run again for the Conservatives prior to her move, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said.

The MP was a source of controversy for the Conservative Party and had fought a nasty nomination battle that ended with the party suspending the race amid allegations of dirty tricks by both Adamsand opponent Natalya Lishchyna.

Adams eventually dropped out of the race citing health problems.
