Judicial recount results arriving after narrow election wins

Judicial recounts have been ordered in a number of ridings where the results were tight following the federal election of Oct. 19. Here is a list of final recount results and recounts ordered to date.

Tight outcomes lead to recounts in some ridings after Oct. 19 election

Judicial recounts are mandatory if the vote margin between the first- and second-place candidates is less than one one-thousandth of the valid votes cast. (Elections Canada)

Judicial recounts have been completed and others are in the worksin a number ofridingswhere the results were tightfollowing the federal election of Oct. 19.

The recounts are mandatory if the vote margin between the first- and second-place candidates is less than one one-thousandth of the valid votes cast.

They can also be done at the request of a candidate if there are questions about miscounted or rejected ballots.

Elections Canada will publish theresults on itswebsite after the recountsare completed.

Desneth-Missinippi-ChurchillRiver

Elections Canada announced on Tuesday that NDP Georgina Jolibois won by 82 votes over Liberal candidate Lawrence Joseph in the Saskatchewan electoral district of Desneth-Missinippi-Churchill River.

Former Conservative MP Rob Clarke came in third place.

MontmagnyL'IsletKamouraskaRivire-du-Loup

Conservative BernardGnreuxhas officiallybeendeclared elected following the resultsof a recount that took place on Oct. 31,Elections Canada announced on Monday.

Gnreuxwon by 272votesin theQuebec riding ofMontmagny-L'Islet-Kamouraska-Rivire-du-LoupoverLiberal candidateMarie-JoseNormand.

Regina-Lewvan

Elections Canada announced on Fridaythat NDP candidate Erin Weir haswon the Saskatchewan riding ofRegina-Lewvanby a margin of 132 votes over Conservative Trent Fraser after a request for a recount was withdrawn.

Edmonton-Mill Woods

A judicial recount confirmed on Thursday thatLiberal candidate Amarjeet Sohiwon overConservative candidate Tim Uppal by 92votes in the riding of Edmonton-Mill Woods.

BarrieSpringwaterOroMedonte

A judicial recount ispending fortheOntario riding of BarrieSpringwaterOroMedonte,whereConservative AlexNuttallwon by 108 votes over Liberal BrianTamblyn.

Hochelaga

A recount was scheduled forNov. 2 in the Quebec riding of Hochelaga, whereNDP candidate Marjolaine Boutin-Sweetis leading Liberal candidateMarwah Rizqy by541votes.
