Picky eaters, why mosquitoes bite some of us more than others

Mosquito season is upon us and for some people, that means intense discomfort.

In All ina Day this week, CBC Radio's science columnist Torah Kachurexplains that the reason why mosquitoes love to bite is because they need a blood meal to get the necessary nutrients for their larvae to mature.

But they're selective when choosing their victims. Recent studiesindicate that mosquitoes prefer pregnant women and larger size people. They also tend tofeed on adults more than they do on children.
