John Oliver says affairs are 'unCanadian' in sketch mocking Ottawa

Canadian news is yet againproviding fodder for American late-night TV. But this time Rob Ford is nowhere to be seen.

Earlier this month, hackers claimed to have stolen confidential customer information, including names, nude photos and credit card information, from users of Ashley Madison, a Canadian-owned website connecting people looking to have an affair.

That could be a big problem for residents of Ottawa,since a previously released figures from the site claimed roughly one in five residents are on the service.

Last Week Tonight host John Oliver tackled the subject in a segment Sunday night.

Cheating on your spouse is "downright unCanadian,"Oliver says in the sketch, referring to Ottawa as"the city that fun forgot."

To the people of Ottawa, he says: "Look to your left. Look to your right. Both of those people are on AshleyMadison.com, and so are you. That's a fact."

Oliver urges Ottawansto stop all the cheating, encouraging them to rekindle romance with their spouses by exploring their beautiful city, "the Canadian capital of romance."

Oliverpreviously mocked Canada for the Senate expenses scandal, a story he said"couldn't be any more Canadian if public money was used to get Drake to drink maple syrup on Niagara Falls."
