Passengers purchasing tickets in Asia and departing on Cathay Pacific flights from Hong Kong will be able to book their travel to several Canadian cities on a single ticket.

Cathay Pacific only flies as far as Vancouver and Toronto. Under the agreement, passengers and their luggage will move seamlessly from the Cathay Pacific flight to WestJet flights bound for Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and Winnipeg on a single ticket.

"Today's announcement is the first in a series of planned code-share agreements that help to solidify our vision to become one of the five most successful international airlines in the world," WestJet president Gregg Saretsky said in a newsrelease.

For Cathay Pacifi, the agreement is part of a strategy to offer passengers more travel connections.

"This latest partnership will further expand our network and give passengers seamless connections on a quality carrier to six more cities in Canada a country that's popular both as a leisure and business destination for travellers from Hong Kong and mainland China," said Cathay Pacific CEO Tony Tyler.
