All feared dead in Azores plane crash

Rescuers are holding out little hope of finding any survivors from the crash of a Portuguese airliner in the remote Azores islands.

The plane crashed into the side of a mountain on Saturday, on the island of Sao Jorge. There were 35 people aboard.

Officials say rescuers have reached the site of the crash and have found bodies, but no survivors.

The Sata Airlines ATP twin-engined turbo prop was reported to have lost contact with the ground about 10 minutes before it was due to land.

The Azores are 1,400 kilometres west of Portugal.
