As royal watchers around the world wait for the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan's first child, here's a look back at the royal children, including Prince William and Kate's sons and daughter Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

As royal watchers around the world wait for the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan's first child, here's a look back at the babies who came before.

Harry and Meghan's babywill be the Queen's eighth great-grandchild, but the most talked-aboutto date have beenPrince William and Kate's three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

All three of William and Kate's children were born at St. Mary's Hospital in London. After each birth, William and Kate brought thenew baby out tothe hospital steps, where they introduced the child to the world.

Harry and Meghan are taking a different approach,with a public announcement expected after they've had time to celebrate privately.

Prince Louis

Louis, William and Kate's most recent arrival, was born on April 23, 2018.Kate, 36 at the time,delivered the baby,weighing eight pounds, seven ounces, at St. Mary's Hospital in London at 6:01 a.m. ET.

George and Charlotte came to the hospital to meet their little brother.

Prince George

George was born on July 23, 2013. Heinstantly became third in line to the throne, behind his grandfather and father.

Young William is introduced to the world

The arrival of a royal baby high in the line of succession has been a major media event in the past few decades. In June 1982, a crowd gathered outside St. Mary's hoping for a glimpse of the first-born child of Prince Charles and Diana through a window.

Instead, the parents brought their new son outside and introduced him to the worlda tradition William and Kate continued.

What's next?

It's not clear exactly when baby Sussex is expected, though it is expected sometime in late April or early May.

Meghan and Harry keptbusy and attendedofficial events throughout Megan's pregnancy, including this Commonwealth Day youth event at Canada House in London in March.

Whenever the baby arrives, the next royal birth will likely be announced differently instead of a wave from the steps, some expect the announcement to come digitally.
