Flower Print Cards: Beautiful Nature Craft for Mom

With the warm weather approaching and new life budding all around, being outside seems irresistible. Here's a fun activity that gets you outdoors and celebrates the return of the flowers: flower print cards!

This printing process is really unique — all you need is a hammer or flat rock to make the transfer! Bonus: after the pleasure of a short nature walk and creating flower art, you are left with a lovely keepsake for Mother's Day.

What You'll Need:

  • fresh flowers, grass and small leaves
  • paper (watercolour or construction)
  • tweezers
  • hammer or flat rock
  • paper towel
  • pencil crayon or marker
  • scissors

How It's Made:

1.  Head on out into the sunshine and gather flowers, leaves and grass. For the best results, choose flat flowers with vibrant colors. Flowers that are fleshier and juicier won't give such sharp images when pounded.

2.  Cut and fold the paper into a card.

3.  Pull the stem off your flower head and place it face down on top of the paper.

4.  Place a paper towel on top of the flower.

5.  Take the hammer or flat rock and carefully hit the flower until the colour comes through onto the paper towel.

If you're not sure whether you're done, carefully lift the paper towel up to see if it transferred.
When you're satisfied with the results, lift the flower head off the paper with tweezers and admire the beauty left behind!

6. Finally, add more flowers if you choose, grass for stems and little leaves using the same process. Write in a Mother's Day message and the card is complete!
