DNTO says thank you

As we reflect on over two decades on CBC Radio, DNTO is dedicating its penultimate episode to one simple word: thanks.
Sook-Yin Lee and DNTO listener Stephanie Wan (CBC)

This week, DNTO is dedicated to one simple word: thanks.

It's a theme that was inspired by listener Stephanie Wan, who sent an incredible email to the showa few weeks ago. Here's what she wrote:

Hi DNTO team!

It is hard to believe that I have been listening to the show since I was 16, and here I am about to finish my first year of medical school. I'm not sure what is prompting me to write to you now...but I have been listening to the show lately and cannot help but thank you for the work you do everyday.

This is a bit of a strange thing, but I think listening to DNTO over the years is making me a better medical student, allowing me to listen to a patient's story with a full heart. The show is a constant reminder that every person has a journey, and has taught me how to be more open to the needs of my patients.

More than anything, DNTO has taught me how to listen. I hope I always remember the lessons that DNTO has taught me as I continue into my medical career.

Anyways, just wanted to say thank you for all your help over the years.I hope that one day I can be a guest on the show and finally get to thank the team in person.

Best,
Stephanie

As we reflect on the end of DNTO,Stephanie's incredibleletter got us thinking about gratitude and why a simple 'thanks' can have so much meaning.
