For TV host and SNL alum Seth Meyers, it was no small feat: to host the first major awards show of the #MeToo era in Hollywood.

"Good evening ladies and remaining gentleman," said Meyersat the start of the searing monologue, which he said other awards show hosts would be watching like astronauts watching a dog getting shot into outer space.

In the monologue,Meyersskewered producer Harvey Weinstein, actor Kevin Spacey, and others accused of sexual harassment.

"I was happy to hear they're going to do another season of House of Cards," he said. "Is Christopher Plummer available for that too? I hope you can do a southern accent because Kevin Spacey surecouldn't. [Audience gasps] Oh isthat too mean? To Kevin Spacey?"

"The Shape of Water received the most nominations of any this year. Just an incredibly beautiful film," he said. "But I have to admit when I first I heard of a film where a nave young woman falls in love with a disgusting sea monster I thought, '"Oh man, not another Woody Allen movie."

Meyers also poked fun atU.S. president Donald Trump. "Give it up for the Hollywood Foreign Press," said Meyers of the organization that hosts the awards, "astring of three words that could not have been better designed to infuriate our president. Hollywood. Foreign. Press. The only name that would make him angrier would be the Hillary Mexico Salad Association."
