Today on The Current:

Ontario has officially entered its seventh wave of COVID-19, driven this time by the Omicron BA.5 subvariant. Guest host Rosemary Barton discusses this new wave with Dr. Fahad Razak, the head of Ontario's COVID-19 science advisory table, UBC professor Sally Otto, and immunologist Jennifer Gommerman.

Then, Patrick Brown has been disqualified from the Conservative leadership race. We talk about what this means for the party's leadership race with Power & Politics host Vassy Kapelos and Rob Benzie, the Queen's Park bureau chief for the Toronto Star.

Also, Boris Johnson is resigning as Britain's prime minister but will stay on until his Conservative Party chooses a new leader. Nick Pearce, professor of public policy and director of the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Bath, looks at how the administration got to this point and what happens next.

And in the final episode of the CBC podcast Unlocking The Fountain, host Keith McArthur looks at the implications of extreme longevity. Read more about our summer podcast series here.
