SEASONED PRODUCER JOINS CBC'S ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT GROUP

Trevor Walton, most recently head of co-productions at Echo Bridge Entertainment, has stepped in as executive director, commissioned and scripted programming, for CBC English Services.

The former network executive and producer, who started his career in England, said in a statement that he is looking forward to working with creative colleagues within CBC as well as in the bigger Canadian production community. He added that he plans to "create programs that will resonate with audiences here and tell those Canadian stories elsewhere."

Walton's background also includes time as senior vice-president at Lifetime Television and senior roles on both sides of the pond, including posts at Witzend Productions in the U.K. and Fox Network and CBS in the United States.

He has worked on franchises including BBC's "Doctor Who" and CBS's "Hallmark Hall of Fame."

CBC English Services executive vice-president Kirstine Stewart said Walton's multi-platform experience is a fit with CBC's current "Everyone, Every Way" strategic plan, which focuses on delivering Canadian content on all of its platforms.
