Marcus Stroman who tore his ACL early in the season has been placed on a rehab assignment on August 21. Could he pitch by September?

According to multiple reports, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman will begin a rehab assignment on August 21.

The 24-year-old played catch on Wednesday in anticipation of his return to the mound.

Stromansuffered a torn ligament in his left knee while participating in a bunting drill during spring training and has not appeared in a game this season.

At the time of his injury, the Blue Jays announced that Stroman would miss the entire 2015 campaign, however Stroman has insisted on several occasions that he will be able to return in September.

Stroman made 20 starts for the Blue Jays as a rookie in 2014, posting an 11-6 record and a 3.65 ERA.

He was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) by Toronto in 2012.
