Little agrees to extension with Jets, Polak getting shot with Leafs

The Winnipeg Jets and forward Bryan Little agreed Thursday to a six-year contract extension that will take effect in the 2018-19 season.

The 29-year-old has spent his entire career with the Atlanta Thrashers/Jets organization and has appeared in 672 games with totals of 184 goals and 248 assists.

Polakto try out forLeafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed free-agent defenceman Roman Polak to a professional tryout.

The 31-year-old blue-liner could give the club needed depth on defence. Polak is coming off a gruesome leg injury during last spring's playoffs with Toronto.

The Czech recorded four goals and seven assists in 75 regular-season games in 2016-17.

He became an unrestricted free agent July 1.

Known as PTOs, professional tryouts come with no job security but give players with no contract a chance to prove they deserve one.

Pastrnak staying with Bruins

The Boston Bruins signed forward David Pastrnak to a six-year contract worth $40 million on Thursday.

The team had been negotiating with the restricted free agent over the summer. Pastrnak had career highs with 34 goals, 70 points and a plus-11 last season.

A native of the Czech Republic, Pastrnak was a first-round pick in the 2014 draft. In his three-year NHL career, the six-foot Czech native has 59 goals and 64 assists in 172 games.
