Canada's Cyle Larin tops MLS 24 under 24 list

Canadian soccer player Cyle Larin was named the No.1 player on Major League Soccer's 24 Under 24 competition. The 21-year-old forward was chosen by a panel of soccer media members and editors from MLSsoccer.com, the league's official website.

Canadian soccer player Cyle Larin was named the No.1 player in Major League Soccer's 24 Under 24 competition on Thursday.

The 21-year-old forward, whowas drafted first overall by Orlando City SC in 2015, was chosen by a panel of soccer media members andeditors fromMLSsoccer.com, the league's officialwebsite.

Larin, originally from Brampton, Ont., set an MLS rookie record with 17 goals in his debut season en route to winningrookie of the year. He's followed that up with 14 goals this season along with an all-star nod.Larinalsohas five goals in 19 international appearances for Canada.

"It feels great to be named No. 1," Larin told MLS in a release. "There's a lot of great young players that have been named to [the list], and I just feel honoured."

After a weekend tilt against D.C. United,Larin and eighth-place Orlando City willplay Toronto FC at BMO Fieldon Wednesday.
