David Suzuki to receive honorary doctorate of science

Scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster David Suzuki is to receive an honorary doctor of science degree from Ryerson University in Toronto on Thursday.

Suzuki is to give the address at the convocation ceremony for the faculty of communication and design.

Students of graphic communication management, journalism and radio and television arts are to receive their degrees during the afternoon ceremony, and certificate program students are to be awarded their FCAD diplomas.

The ceremony was scheduled for broadcast online at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Suzuki, an internationally recognized geneticist, has hosted the award-winning CBC program The Nature of Things since 1979.
