Going to the grocery store is nothing like going to war, but this past month, it was a kind of battle .

Most Canadians arent used to fighting over, say, the last carton of eggs , nor are they accustomed to empty shelves at local supermarkets: entire sections of fruits, milk, bread and frozen pizzas cleared out by hoarders stocking up on essentials and mumbling about the end of days.

And in the midst of all this stockpiling and stay-at-home boredom, as experts continue reassuring shoppers that they neednt buy up everything in sight, a trend has emerged to save the day: quarantine cooking .
