Former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, an independent, endorsed Donald Trump Monday, after the former president spoke at a National Guard event in Detroit.

Gabbard ran for president in 2020 as a Democrat, then left the party after failing to secure the nomination. But her debate performance against Harris at that time appears to have caught Trumps eye: CNN reports shes been helping Trump prepare for his Sept. 10 debate.

In March, she appeared to be campaigning to be Trumps running mate, gushing over the prospect in a conversation with Donald Trump Jr.
