Jennifer Garner recently cemented her role as one of America's sweethearts with a deeply personal and unflinchingly honest profile in Vanity Fair.

The 43-year-old mother of three broke her silence eight months after she and her husband of 10 years, Ben Affleck, announced their separation. The interview was heartbreaking at times and though she didn't appear to hold back , Garner made sure to not give the tabloids anything to gossip about.

Now, Affleck is breaking his silence on their split -- and on Garner's VF profile -- for the first time, though somewhat begrudgingly it seems.

The actor told The New York Times that he generally refrains from talking about his family out of respect for his three children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel, but he was "fine" with Garner's choice to open up about their relationship.

"Jens great. Shes a great person. Were on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so thats the reality that I live in," Affleck told the paper of record.

"She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with, so she could say, Look, I already talked about it -- I dont want to do it again,'" he said of Garner's comments to Vanity Fair, adding, Its fine. Shes allowed to talk about it.

Indeed, she is.

While those few comments were as deep as the actor, who is playing Batman in the much anticipated "Batman v Superman," wanted to go when it came to talking about his personal life, "classy" seems to be the word that's used most in describing the way Garner handled herself.

The former "Alias" star called Affleck the "love of her life," denied rumors that an affair with their children's nanny was to blame for the split and reminded everyone not to take their grief out on her ex.

"No one needs to hate him for me. I dont hate him. Certainly we dont have to beat the guy up," she told Vanity Fair.
