I once worked for an editor who told me that she couldn't remember the last time she washed her own hair, instead she had regular blowouts in between her early morning visit to the gym and getting in to the office every other day. At first, I thought this was outrageous, but her hair always looked fabulous.

I was not born with smooth, shiny, straight hair, and my struggle to achieve this look with use of hot tools is well documented . Whenever there is a special occasion, be it a birthday, a job interview, a fun party, I always head to a salon to get a blowout.

Not only do I love the way my hair looks after the professionals get their hands on it, I also love the way it feels. When I blowdry my hair on my own, it can end up feeling dry and dead. After a blowout, however, my hair is lustrous and silky. I just want to run my fingers through it (and I actually can). My whole look is more polished, and I even feel like I can get away with dressing more casually than I would otherwise (who is going to tell the girl with perfect hair she can't wear jeans?).

The best part is, a blowout lasts for a few days. When left to my own devices, I wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner every other day. If I go any longer, it looks limp and greasy. With a blow out, I can just sprinkle a little dry shampoo on my bangs, and I am ready for day three.

So, while some might not love blowouts, I look forward to my few days of post-haircut glory. You'll be able to tell, I'll be the girl flipping my hair around at any chance I get.
