Back in the days when I'd attempt to boost my lifeless locks with a curling iron , I'd always end up with little dents in my hair and unimpressive ringlets . So, I would resort to my pin curls styling trick , but I've had more than my share of run-ins because of bobby pins . Not wanting to give up on hot tools altogether, I've recently been reintroduced to the benefits of using a clipless curling iron.

In the video above, Bridgette of Birchbox demonstrates how to use a clipless curling iron on her long, thick hair. She starts by prepping with a heat protectant oil, gently smoothing down on the ends. Bridgette then heats up a Sedu Revolution 1-inch clipless curling iron and slips on the brand's glove to guard her fingertips. To achieve messy curls, she wraps small sections of hair around the barrel of the iron. For a voluminous look , she uses an over-and-under technique instead. Remember: The smaller the barrel, the tighter your curls .

Have you ever used a clipless curling iron? What was your experience like? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section.
